I understand that the purpose of the SLM internship is to gain some practical experience as a media specialist under the supervision of a seasoned veteran, but my internship has been more of the trial-by-fire variety. That's not a complaint. I still pinch myself on a regular basis to make sure I actually am the media specialist at South Forsyth Middle School, and after three months on the job I am absolutely certain that going back to grad school was a brilliant decision. As for supervision, I've had mentors aplenty, albeit off-site ones. Phone calls and emails work wonders. Here are some examples of things I've undertaken so far:
